The election of Barack Obama is extraordinary and this is part of my celebration. The iconography began before the results were in - - and for excellent reason. I am so happy for my country and family.
I needed to shoot this kneeling in the traffic lanes of the street. I don't think the owner of the Jiffy Lube there on La Brea Avenue and Melrose in Hollywood put up his American flags as a purposeful frame for the peeling poster.
Very true. For people of my generation who saw African-American children our age attacked by dogs whilst trying to attend school in Mississippi, the election of Obama was a miracle and something I thank G-d I was able to live to see. The fact that he is a man of some integrity, who sets a fine example for all including his country, who cares for his family and lets them care for him and who, one can see, is genuinely completely dedicated to doing the best that he can - - these things are extra bonuses.
haha that's pretty great. I've seen this poster before-in New York-but it was much more faded and peal-y. the flags are definitely a nice touch, especially since it was accidental. and the way they're waving in the wind... perfect.
It's particularly deviant with all the graffiti in the background too. Hardly a mom-and-apple-pie setting for the now president of the United States; but he still fits right in!
Thanks so much; and it's great to have something such as an Obama administration to look forward to particularly as the economies of the world are in crisis.
