Las Vegas by makepictures Las Vegas by makepictures
"Fountain" in the shopping center that is part of the sprawling hotel/casino complex called Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV. Only the water is authentically water though its source is a pipe running to the third floor.  The scale, large to excessive.  The statue of Zeus/Poseidon is twice life sized.  This image sums up my sentiments about everything in Las Vegas and is undistorted (by me) other than by selecting a 28mm equivalent lens. I didn't see a My Little Pony store in the complex but Hasbro should certainly consider locating one near this edifice!

So this place and these sculptures DO exist somewhere actually? OMG this is freaking hilarious and excellent :lmao:
Hard to believe, some friends told me of Las Vegas but this is way beyond any of their words, thx for posting -and shooting it, too!

Las Vegas has a fake Venice (fake St Marks's Square and fake canals with fake bridges), a fake Paris (mostly a fake Left bank and a fake Eiffel Tower), a fake Egypt (a fake pyramid), a fake Medieval castle, a fake volcano that erupts every hour, a fake British Man-of War battleship from the late 1700's with a fake Pirate ship that attacks it every hour and a half, a fake Rome, and just about any other fake thing (jewelry, women, men, music, money, designer clothing) that you can think of.

So one could call it Faketown or Fakeville -Fakeville sounds better I think :)

I never went to the United States nor to Vegas but I love how you depict it -some kind of copycat zoo where Fake is a new divinity

You make me want to go there just for the sake of shooting all these "papier maché" wonders!

Certainly go to Las Vegas to see the fakes but I would recommend traveling to see the real places first.

I wonder how all these impressive construction and pieces of art (replica, likely) are made for Vegas? Are they build to last or are they "disposable" in a way? This for sure looks very impressive.

A slightly better version of papier mache.  I'm being a little unfair but they are some form of cast resin, not sculpted stone.  It is the same approach taken at building things for an amusement park.  Everything is part of a set and in that sense not real.

I live up in Reno, and I must say that these are definitely some exquisite pieces of art. There's one quite similar to this in a casino up here as well. Thanks for sharing this!
P.S - I'm really shocked Hasbro hasn't set up a shop here yet! ;)
