Meacham field, Fort Worth, Tex. (LOC) 1942. Part of a set from a Library of Congress collection of public domain photographs taken in color in the early 1940's with cameras using larger formats than 35mm. Titles can be searched on the LOC site or by going to Flikr and searching under the title "Library of Congress." Photographs have been cropped slightly and the color and contrast adjusted to be more favorably displayed.
Hmm I didn't know the LOC had public domain photos in such high quality. Shall check out now
It takes a bit of hunting through one of the worst search tools (kinda ironic for a library) but there is a very large collection of both photos and illustrations in very high res scans done very early on in the digitization cycle for libraries.
Makes me want to turn this into a pink floyd-esque album cover
