This reminds me exactly of a dream I had when I was 5. My parents left me in a waiting room while they did their shopping. As I sat there reading a light surround the doorway and the door slowly opened. I couldn't see anything only blinding light. I called for my parents but they didn't come. Once the door was fully opened I felt myself being sucked towards the door. Nothing could stop it and finally my hands couldn't hold on any more and I flew across the room towards the door.

I woke up in a sweat. I continued to have exactly the same dream once every six months until I was about 12.

This was that waiting room.

So then, if you had gone through the door you would have either learned Capoeira or how to play the Berimbau. haha When I took this photograph I had the experience of your dream in mind and in particular, as a matter of the composition, was attracted to the fact that the light came from the side, not centered as so often shown when illustrating experiences of "going to the light." The thing is that not much longer after making this image, I nearly died, ended up with an emergency heart procedure and, of course, survived happily thereafter! I did not see the light during that experience.

So pleased that this image is so evocative for you.

Maybe I was just scared of learning. At the time I was having severe allergic reactions to school. I'm not kidding. I came out in hives and was only going to school on days I actually wanted to. Took four months before I started to attend school on a regular basis.

I did have the dream once when I was 26 where I actually made it through the door, but I forgot what I saw when I woke up. Just knew I had passed through it.

I can tell you what was through the side door here - - an alley along the side of the building with concertina razor wire along one side protecting an industrial facility/warehouse in an edgy part of Los Angeles where the rent is low enough to be affordable to a Capoeira master.

it would be nice to crop the blue/light limit as an abstract :)

or even the other side crop the reflection and the chairs :)

it s just perception is really concentrated on the light here.
